This meeting-based initiative works to strengthen support for youth who are in or have experienced foster care or homelessness.
The seven Regional Coalitions bring together high school and postsecondary education (after high school) professionals, child welfare specialists, and community partners to create a network of support that enhances student success in higher education. Each coalition facilitates the sharing of resources unique to its region while also participating in the larger statewide Embark Georgia network.
Our Regional Coalitions aim to:
- Support Student Success: Provide tailored resources and support to help students transition into and thrive in postsecondary education.
- Enhance Professional Knowledge: Equip postsecondary and secondary education professionals with the tools and information needed to better assist students.
- Promote Collaboration: Foster connections that strengthen relationships and build capacity to respond to student needs effectively.

Moving Forward
Our goal is for each regional Coalition to meet quarterly, either virtually or in person. These regionally focused communities provide a platform for sharing insights and addressing the unique challenges students face in each area.
“These smaller peer-to-peer communities will help foster more direct relationships and increase our capacity to serve these students quickly and more effectively,” said David Meyers, UGA Fanning Institute public service faculty member and the Embark Georgia Center network co-director. “We appreciate the generosity of both the Hilton Foundation and the Joseph B. Whitehead Child Well-Being Fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and their commitment to ensuring that every student who wants access to college has it, regardless of their circumstances.”
