Embark Georgia:  Opportunities

The Embark Georgia Network exists to share information across Georgia in support of improved college access and success among disconnected youth in Georgia.

We wanted to keep you up to date on the following opportunities both in the state and nationally:

  1. Our friends at Fostering Success Michigan have a webinar coming up discussing post secondary retention for foster care alumni. This is the beginning of a webinar series entitled "Best Practice, Best Fit" aiming to provide professionals, students and supportive adults discovery-driven solutions related to educational attainment for students from foster care.
  2. The JW Fanning Institute for Leadership Development is offering a series of trainings for nonprofit leaders interested in enhancing their skills in ethical leadership, cultural competencies, sustainability, and evaluation.  Registration available here.
  3. FosterClub has an exciting opportunity for summer internships. The FosterClub All-Stars are a team of young people age 18-24 who are selected to serve as summer interns with FosterClub and assist in planning and facilitating Independent Living Teen Conferences and other foster care and child welfare events held throughout the country  Please visit their site for additional information.
  4. Reminder of podcasts from National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY): this is a podcast series for youth experiencing homelessness. The NAEHCY Higher Education Committee will record a succinct podcast each month on topics that impact youth experiencing homelessness. The podcast are tailored to youth, and provide great information in a more relaxed format.  Please feel free to forward the link to youth experiencing homelessness or liaisons, counselors, and service providers that work with youth experiencing homelessness.
  5. We remain available to talk with you or come to your campus to meet with you to support your development of campus programming to help foster and homeless youth enroll and graduate.

As always, please let us know if we can help answer any of your questions or access additional resources.
