Embark Georgia:  Snow Day Reading

The Embark Georgia Network exists to share information across Georgia in support of improved college access and success among disconnected youth in Georgia.

Many of you might be home today or tomorrow due to the snow storm across Georgia, so we thought you might like some reading materials to enjoy.

Today's updates:

  1. Did you see President Obama talking about improving college access for all?  Here are some of the details in an article out of Education Week in regards to Expanding College Opportunities
  2. This is an article from Huffington Post discussing changing the framework for higher education to become more innovative.
  3. A shout out to our friends at the Multi Agency Alliance for Children (MAAC) for their exemplary program status.
  4. Reminder of podcasts from National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY): this is a podcast series for youth experiencing homelessness. The NAEHCY Higher Education Committee will record a succinct podcast each month on topics that impact youth experiencing homelessness. The podcast are tailored to youth, and provide great information in a more relaxed format.  Please feel free to forward the link to youth experiencing homelessness or liaisons, counselors, and service providers that work with youth experiencing homelessness.
  5. We remain available to talk with you or come to your campus to meet with you to support your development of campus programming to help foster and homeless youth enroll and graduate.

As always, please let us know if we can help answer any of your questions or access additional resources.
