Embark News Campaign 6

Embark Georgia:  Happy New Year

The Embark Georgia Network exists to share information across Georgia in support of improved college access and success among disconnected youth in Georgia.

Thank you for all that you do to serve foster and homeless youth in Georgia and thank you for your support of Embark Georgia.

Today's updates:

  1. We would like to announce and thank The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta for their sponsorship of Embark Georgia.  We will update in the coming weeks about how these funds will be utilized to enhance Embark Georgia.
  2. Announcement of podcasts from National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY): this is a podcast series for youth experiencing homelessness. The NAEHCY Higher Education Committee will record a succinct podcast each month on topics that impact youth experiencing homelessness. The podcast are tailored to youth, and provide great information in a more relaxed format.  Please feel free to forward the link to youth experiencing homelessness or liaisons, counselors, and service providers that work with youth experiencing homelessness.
  3. Atlanta Journal Constitution article discussing the legislative agenda to privatize foster care in Georgia.
  4. Helpful tips from our friends at Fostering Success Michigan!  We will continue to highlight efforts of states doing this work around the country.
  5. Reminder: Please remember to register for the College Connections for Student Success Conference on February 18-19, 2014 in Stone Mountain.  We would encourage all of you to try and send a representative; if you have any question please let us know.
  6. Reminder: Embark Georgia Network email address has changed to the following: embark@fanning.uga.edu.  We also have a Facebook page and encourage you to

    like" us!

We hope to begin providing updates twice a month and sharing information not only from our state, but from others supporting this work across the country.  As always, please let us know if we can help answer any of your questions or access additional resources.
