The Embark Georgia statewide network serves post-secondary professionals and institutions to ensure connectivity, share best practices, and provide information exchange among youth, community based stakeholders, and K-12 professionals who support former foster and homeless students in their academic endeavors.

Our next Regional Meeting will be tomorrow,Tuesday, October 14th at Kennesaw State University at 12:30PM. If you have already registered for this meeting, keep an eye out for an email in the next few days regarding the exact location of the meeting. Feel free to bring a friend or colleague.

  2. Jimmy Butler: The Long, Winding Road  tells the story of professional basketball player Jimmy Butler. Despite dealing with homelessness as a teen, Jimmy was able to live out his dreams of a college scholarship and a professional basketball career with the support of a friend's family who welcomed him into their home in his senior year of high school. 
  3. Student Scholarship Opportunity from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
  4. Where Do Homeless Students Go Over Winter Break? Jessie McCormick, a student at Aquinas College, briefly talks about her experience with homelessness and how it has lead her to advocate for homeless and former foster youth in her own college. 
  5. It isn't always about a four year degree...article sighting a brief out of California discussing the benefits of community college.
